To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Icehotel we designed a limited edition tray inspired by the Arctic north of Sweden. The tray is made from birch tree from Jukkasjärvi, the village in which a new Icehotel is built every winter.
The tray is designed using the same type of chisels that are used for sculpting in ice and its shape is intended to reflect the same natural feeling of the ice, while creating a contrast with its shiny surface. This is reflected in the textured edges of the tray against a smooth top. The tray is handmade by local craftsmen in Jukkasjärvi, using traditional tools and techniques and is be available in different colours through polishing the trays with natural wax. The tray is sold by Icehotel as a limited edition.
