Kashan is unique in that it does not have a defined style or speak to a specific period. In some respects it is futuristic, yet is also reminiscent of designs from the 1930s. The chair has a playful and comfortable appearance, while being simultaneously restrained and elegant. The absence of angles and lines in Kashan’s cushion permits the exterior and interior to gracefully merge together, creating a sinuous form. In contrast, the seat is supported by blade thin metal legs. A floating appearance is achieved from the stylistic tension between the informal and soft organic cushion, cradled by the formal, precise nature of the structural frame. Equipped with a custom suspension spring seat from high density molded foam, Kashan integrates luxurious comfort with a modern appeal.
